Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forestry SciencesFounded in 1958, Ningxia Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences is the only first-class public welfare institution engaged in agricultural and forestry scientific research directly under the government of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.Its main responsibilities include conducting agricultural scientific research, tackling key technological problems, transforming scientific and technological achievements, providing promotion services, and offering decision-making consultation, all centered on the comprehensive, overall, and critical issues in the development of the autonomous region's characteristic and advantageous agricultural industries as well as the rural economy.The Academy has 7 functional departments, a directly affiliated Party Committee of Institutions, and 11 subordinate research institutions. It has an approved staffing quota of 503, with 484 in-service cadres and staff. Among them, 453 are scientific research personnel, accounting for 93.6%; 286 hold professional titles above the associate senior level (including 14 second-level researchers), accounting for 58.5%. There are 7 in-service "National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents", 4 "Saishang Talents" of the autonomous region, 6 "Saishang Agricultural Experts", and 10 chief experts in characteristic industries of the autonomous region.At present, the Academy has developed 48 research directions covering 13 major disciplinary fields such as wolfberry research, horticulture, biotechnology, and animal husbandry and veterinary medicine. These fields and directions cover most of the characteristic and advantageous agricultural industries in Ningxia, and an agricultural science and technology innovation system with regional characteristics and certain advantages has been established, which can basically adapt to and meet the needs of the agricultural and rural economic development of the entire autonomous region.
